Join us for a Juneteenth celebration at Midland Library! The theme of the day will be plants, nature, and Black liberation.
First, Black Storybooks and Afro-Botanical Art with Urban Forestry: Portland Parks & Recreation's Urban Forestry will take the whole family on a journey into our urban forest. Celebrate our roots and how greatly we have grown together. Come sing, read, and create art inspired by Black freedom and beautiful trees!
Afterwards, we'll be planting seeds and learning about plant growth with Malcom Hoover from Black Futures Farm. While planting, we'll discuss Black agriculture, liberation, and the history of Juneteenth. For adults and teens.
