Newbery Honor and two-time Stonewall Award winner Kyle Lukoff presents "What Do We Ask Books To Do?"
This event is at The Judy Kafoury Center for Youth Arts, 1000 SW Broadway #T-100, Portland, OR 97205.
Kyle Lukoff is the author of many books for young readers. His debut middle-grade novel, Too Bright To See, received a Newbery honor, the Stonewall award, and was a National Book Award finalist. His picture book When Aidan Became A Brother also won the Stonewall, and his book Call Me Max has been banned in schools across the country. He has forthcoming books about queer history, unicycles, breakups, and lots of other topics. While becoming a writer he worked as a bookseller for ten years, and then nine more years as a school librarian.
Each year the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) sponsors a Children’s Literature Lecture geared toward adults who have an interest in children’s books. The lecture features an author, critic, librarian, historian or educator presenting a paper considered to be a significant contribution to the field of children’s literature. This year the lecture is hosted by Multnomah County Library.
A limited number of books will be available for purchase at the event.
