One of Panama's best-known crafts is the mola, an intricate handwork with inverted appliques made by the Kuna, and now an important symbol of their culture. The mola originated from the tradition that Kuna women painted their bodies with geometric designs, using the natural colors available. Then in later years these same designs were woven into cotton and later sewn with fabrics purchased from European settlers in Panama. In this workshop we will be inspired by modern graphics or drawings to create a colorful geometric design on paper.
